Outcome: Although we have gathered information, we have not been able to establish a likely outcome to this hearing in the US. We are trying to contact a few key people in the States but for the moment, this is being observed. Further updates will follow.

Ed and Lorraine Warren became infamous back in the 70's and 80's and were regularly invited onto TV shows to discuss their cases and theories around the subject of Demonology. They have written many books on the subject, on their cases and have had hit movies based on cases such as the The Amityville Horror (1979), The Haunted (1991), The Conjuring trilogy (2013 - 2021) and two Annabelle films (2014 and 2019) to name but a few. Their books have also been a sensation namely, Graveyard, Ghost Hunters, In A Dark Place, Werewolf and Satan's Harvest.

Just like their spin-off franchises, their reputation had multiple facets. While some saw them as a charming couple who sincerely wished to help people overcome their problems, others claimed that they were only out to profit from the suffering of others. The SEPI Agency does not have an opinion because both are plausible, and we have never had the chance to question this. However, we do recognise that in order to devote time to these kinds of investigations, one must be able to generate some sort of income in order to fully concentrate on their path. The SEPI Agency is no different; while we would welcome full-time funding to enable its officers to give their all to every case, we will split our time between our paid jobs and this particular area of unique investigation until that time. The SEPI Agency wanted to share with you their opinions on each of the Warrens' five steps to a "haunting" process, which we believe is valuable learning. According to Ed & Lorriane Warren, hauntings progress in 5 steps:

  1. Permission: As we have already mentioned, someone does something to allow a spirit / EDE in, such as holding a saonce, playing with Ouija boards, dabbling in black magic/magik or quite innocently as a physic medium that does not recognise them for what they are.

  2. Infestation: This is when the EDE enters your home/space but is still external to you. This is a normal state and quite common.

  3. Oppression: Again, as mentioned previously, this stage is when an EDE starts to take over and affect your own free will. The subject will start to exhibit darker impulses and negative behaviours. An EDE will generally target the weak link due to health, age or belief system (remember, an EDE loves to hide behind people's denial).

  4. Complete Possession: At this stage, the person is no longer themselves. There will be times when they appear quite normal, but at the flick of a switch, they will no longer be in control of themselves. They will not be cognitive or present themselves.

  5. Death & Destruction: This sounds extreme, but left to fester, this can be a very real consequence if the EDE is left unchallenged. The EDE will seek to destroy the family unit, which is why it is vitally important that a family suffering from such issues be bound and kept together, remain strong, and grow in positivity. On an individual level, horrendous crimes such as manslaughter and murder may occur. There are many murderers that are locked up to this day who claim they had no hand in the act and that "the voices," God or the Devil, told them to do it. The subjects are trailed for manslaughter and murder—not the EDE of course. They escape consequence and, indeed, may continue to possess the subject even behind bars, where the subject's negative energies become greater.

The SEPI Agency tends to agree with the steps mentioned above, but we do not necessarily agree with the methods to rid the host or subject of the entities.

Exorcisms

The Warren's were brought up in the Roman Catholic Church and had a strong faith in this. In most cases, the Warrens' would commission the Catholic Church to perform exorcisms on the subjects, which again, in most cases, made the EDE's angrier and even more powerful. Paranormal activity would increase, even if things appeared to calm for a short while. Bear in mind that, in the realm of EDE's, time and space is very different. They can sit and wait for as long as they choose to come back and finish the job. The SEPI Agency does not believe that any one faith system is right or wrong or that it is even necessary to challenge the EDE's. It's about remaining positive, being fully informed on who they are and how they act, and ultimately exercising your own FREE WILL. As it is written in Latin, "liberum arbitrium", its meaning is "free judgement, free will - the power to decide; freedom of action" and is the real tool to rid you and your family of EDE's.

There is no entity in this universe or any other that can completely steal your free will. You can be duped, manipulated, and enticed into giving up your free will, but nothing can entirely take or control it. Even if you believe you have given it up, you can breach the contract and reclaim ownership. The only punishment of breaching that contract is that you may lose whatever you have achieved while in ownership of the EDE. We feel that many movie, television, pop, and rock stars are in this situation. Even with their own personal lives in turmoil, gripped in depression and alienation, these 'privileged' individuals will continue to feed their EDE's for fear of failure or obscurity, but is the price really worth paying?
